I. Mission/philosophy statement:
GCYSA players fuel our select program! Our select program puts the players in our community in a place they can be challenged and where they can build their teams and their individual success.
We are committed to providing our community with opportunities to play competitive soccer, by providing committed select players, the challenge to advance their learning of the game of soccer in a positive, safe, fair and inclusive environment.
II. Select
player fee: Each year
the GCYSA directors shall determine the select player seasonal registration
fees.
A. The GCYSA
select player registration fees shall include:
1. The association (CAYSA) fee
2. The cost of providing referees for
the home games
3. The cost of GCYSA-provided
equipment (balls, flags, nets, pinnies, etc.)
4. GCYSA administrative costs (field
lining materials, improvements, etc.)
5. Scheduling and field for two 1 ½
hour practices per week.
6. Game field and home game
scheduling.
B. Each select
team shall be responsible for:
1. Uniforms, bags, practice shirts,
and any equipment not normally provided to GCYSA D3 teams.
2. League (or Cup) fee (the fee
charged by CAYSA or others to provide the seasonal competition)
3. Tournament fees (the cost of any
open or invitational tournaments)
4. Playoff fees (the fee charged by
CAYSA or others to provide the seasonal playoffs.
5. Occasional field lining duties.
GCYSA may
purchase items for the select teams if requested and if the funding is provided
prior to the order being placed.
Each select team shall maintain an
accounting of monies collected and spent for their team purchases. The
accounting shall be available for review by GCYSA at any time upon request.
III. Colors: Each select team may determine their uniform colors and style.
IV. Team names: Each select team shall bear the “GC” prefix before their team name (i.e. U14S2 GC Falcons)
V. Logo:
The standard GCYSA logo will be worn on the left front of the shirts over the
heart. Other logos and their placement may be required annually by the GCYSA.
VI. Sponsorships: Each select team may obtain their own sponsors, but shall not request (or accept) donations from GCYSA general sponsors (list to be provided each season). Sponsors names shall not be placed on the uniforms.
VII. Fundraising: Each select team is permitted to conduct their own fundraisers as long as they do not interfere with the GCYSA general fundraisers.
VIII. Team Formation: All initial tryouts shall be planned and supervised by the GCYSA Select VP. All subsequent tryouts, regardless of the number of players to be placed on the team shall be planned and supervised by the GCYSA Select VP. No player(s) shall be placed on a GCYSA select team without the approval of the GCYSA Select VP.
IX. Transfers: No player may be transferred from another
GCYSA team without the approval of the GCYSA Select VP and the player’s current
coach. All CAYSA/STYSA transfer requirements shall be followed.
X. Recruiting: No player may be actively or passively recruited without the prior approval of the GCYSA Select VP and the coach of the player’s current team. Passive recruiting shall include peer pressure and discussions with the player’s parents. A player shall be considered a member of a team for a full year.
XI. Play-ups: No player may play up one or two age groups (i.e. U11 player to a U12 or U13 team) without the approval of the GCYSA Select VP and the player’s parents.
The approval of the GCYSA Directors will be required before a player will be allowed to play up three or more age groups (i.e. U11 player to a U14 team).
XII. Releases: A player may not be released from a GCYSA select team during the registration year without the approval of the GCYSA Select VP or as the result of a GCYSA, CAYSA or STYSA disciplinary hearing.
XIII. Adult and coach discipline: The GCYSA VP Select is responsible for correcting the coaches or others when their actions conflict with these rules. Anyone may request a hearing before the GCYSA directors when they believe that an adult (coach or other) is being allowed to act in violation of the rules and ethics we require in the GCYSA select program.
XIV. Rules of Play: All GCYSA select teams shall be governed by CAYSA/STYSA (or the competition in the case of tournaments).
